The 75% rule at CGC Landran
Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran (IKG PTU) requires students to attend at least 75% of the lectures held in a subject before they are allowed to sit the end-semester examination. The count is per subject, not an average across the semester, so one subject slipping below 75% is enough to cause a problem even when your overall attendance looks healthy.
How the maths works
Your attendance percentage is simply the classes you attended divided by the classes held, times 100. To find how many more you can miss, the calculator finds the largest number of extra classes you could skip while your attended count still divides into the new total at 75% or better. To recover, it finds the smallest run of classes you would have to attend without missing one, since every class you attend from now on raises both the numerator and the denominator.
Recovering from low attendance
The further you fall below 75%, the harder it gets — the number of consecutive classes needed climbs quickly, and if too few lectures remain in the semester there may be no run long enough to fix it. Check the number early rather than in the last fortnight, and talk to your department about medical or duty leave records before the attendance list is finalised.
