How SGPA is calculated

SGPA is a credit-weighted average, not a plain one. Multiply each subject's grade points by its credits, add those up, then divide by the total credits for the semester. A four-credit subject therefore moves your SGPA twice as much as a two-credit one — which is why a bad grade in a lab often hurts far less than the same grade in a core theory paper.

Grades run on a 10-point scale under IKG PTU. Confirm the exact letters against your current academic handbook — scales are revised from time to time.

SGPA, CGPA and percentage

SGPA covers one semester. CGPA is the same credit-weighted average taken across every semester so far. The percentage shown here uses the common 9.5 multiplier and is an estimate only — universities differ, and some publish their own conversion table or certificate formula. Use the official figure for applications and placements.
